I have two makeup faces: either not a single stitch of makeup (not even brows or concealer) OR I have on ALL OF THE MAKEUP.
I chose not to wear foundation daily but when I do, these are the necessary steps I take to achieve a flawless base that in turn helps you have what we call a BEAT.
I’m trying the Lip Bar’s new foundation which is black-owned and great for dry skin and for combo skin like mine. I was a bit wary of the built-in foundation brush however, the foundation is convenient for those on the go days and when you want a quick and easy light beat. This product has a smooth finish and I’m in the shade 4:01.
I start out with prepping my skin with moisturizer, and eye cream and a primer. This combo makes the perfect base for any foundation you’ll wear. Depending on the look I’m going for, I’ll add my ‘oldie but goodie’ strobe cream in from MAC which doubles as a moisturizer and luminizes the skin to give a healthy inner glow look.
Next, I use MAC’s Prep and Prime highlighting pen in Peach Lustre to color correct any darkness underneath my eyes or within my complexion. The base takes the most time and typically while I’m working on my skin prep, I’ve also taken this time to prep my strip lashes with glue so when I’m finished I can just put the lashes on and finish the look.
I’m an eyes before foundation kinda gal.
Then, I’ll finish the eyes with a reddish-brown shadow in my crease and then finish up with the bottoms lashes.

Love the look!! What eye creams do you recommend?? I’ve been playing with whatever comes in my ipsy bag but have been wanting to be more intentional about finding one that works for me long term.
That’s actually how I kinda found mine from Ipsy. Ive tried the Mario Badescu under eye cream with glycolic acid and Also I use Emerginc eyelight serum.
I love your lashes. I’ve dabbled with makeup before, but for me, it’s something that I haven’t been able to master yet lol. I’ll have to give your tips a try.
Definitely try this foundation. It’s made for women like you who may not be too into makeup but just need coverage on the go sometimes.
