I got the oppurtunity of a lifetime to honor Eric Braeden in his 40th year Anniversary as playing the most ruthless, iconic character daytime television has ever seen, Victor Newman.
Why is this a big deal you’re asking yourself? It’s a big deal because if you’re old enough to know who this man is, then you were watching this soap opera with your grandma just as I was. LOL. What made this moment that much more special was spending it with my now 90 year old grandmother and watching all of the characters love on her and tell her how much they appreciated he viewership and that my friends is something money can’t buy.
The entire Young and the Restless Studio was filled with the cast and cast from other soaps like “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” and even sportscasters like Stephen A. Smith was there to honor Braeden.
The #1 daytime drama will celebrate Braeden’s milestone 40th anniversary with episodes airing Tuesday, Feb. 18 – Thursday, Feb. 20 (12:30-1:30 PM, ET/11:30 AM-12:30 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.
“Victor Newman” made his first appearance on Feb. 8, 1980. During the three days of special episodes, viewers will be treated to clips – some dating back to 1980 – from memorable episodes during Braeden’s impressive 40-year run.
I can recall wanting to act alongside of Victor because he was such a badass and NO ONE could touch him. It was something about this character and the power he possessed that captured my attention early on. His commitment to this character is what was admirable as a fellow thespian. In person, his kindness and the love that he had for his son and his family as well as him agreeing to take photos with me and my family after a long 3 hours of talking and press; he didn’t care to love on anyone who wanted him to. I’m forever thankful. I love good TV and this man has always brought it. Will you be watching?
Check out some photo’s from the celebration below! Did you grow up watching the Young and the Restless?
